A recent study published in the European Journal of Nutrition found that when people include nuts in their diet, they are more likely to reduce weight gain and lower the risk of being overweight or obese. This was a five year study that looked at data from more than 373,000 Europeans aged 25 to 70 years of age.
The study concluded that participants only gained an average of 2.1 kilograms during the five-year period of the study. Also, interestedly enough, participants that ate the most nuts not only had less weight gain than those that abstained from nuts, but their chances of becoming overweight or obese were 5 percent lower.
